Legend has it, this  home was custom built for a prominent resident of Kansas City who never moved in due to family circumstances.  It is believed the first resident was the editor of a Kansas City newspaper and it was rumored that a Speak Easy was located several doors down the street.  Reminders of days gone by include an old coal shoot near the half bath which was the original entry and front door.  The metal button on the dining room floor was once a working bell to ring for the butler.
